DPIIT partners with Flipkart to
boost tech startups in India
T
he Department for Promotion of Industry and
Internal Trade (DPIIT)
has signed a memorandum
of understanding (MoU) with
Flipkart to empower tech startups
across India. This partnership
builds upon Flipkart’s Leap and
Ventures initiative, backed by a
US$100 million fund, which has
already supported 20 companies.
The collaboration focusses on
providing startups with access to
government-published industry
reports, datasets, research papers,
and fast-tracked patent applications, enabling streamlined
market research and innovation.

through Startup India, connecting entrepreneurs with resources
and networks. Flipkart aims to
support startups at critical stages,
from prototype development to
scaling and international expansion, while driving innovation
and creating opportunities for

strengthen India's position as a
global innovation hub.
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya partners with
Indian Navy to strengthen logistics capabilities

ati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya and the Indian
Navy have signed an memorandum of
understanding (MoU) to enhance logistics
education, research, and training. The partnership focusses on improving the Navy's logistics
operations, emphasising key areas such as supply
chain optimisation, multimodal transportation,
sustainability, and technological innovation.
Initiatives include implementing advanced
supply chain strategies, promoting eco-friendly
logistics practices, and leveraging technologies
like AI, predictive analytics, and blockchain. This
collaboration allows the Navy to benefit from
cutting-edge research, while Gati Shakti Vish-

Trade Centres Association
(WTCA) to introduce WTC
Thane, India’s first mixed-use
facility combining an Urban
Distribution Centre (UDC)
with retail, office spaces,
food and beverage outlets,
and an experience centre.
Located in Wagle Estate,
Thane, the 800 crore Grade A
platinum-rated development
spans 1 million sq ft across 14
levels. It integrates advanced
features like drone delivery,
wide driveways, and modern
docking stations, tailored for
evolving quick-commerce
demands. Inspired by vertical
logistics hubs in Japan and
Hong Kong, this project aims
to position Thane as a critical
hub for supply chain, retail,
and business operations while
setting new benchmarks for
sustainable urban logistics in
India.
DP World expands
rail freight capacity
in India
P World has boosted rail

freight capacity at its Pali

HMM resumes transatlantic trade, introduces
India-North Europe Service

MM has reentered
the transatlantic
trade with the
launch of the Transatlantic
1 (TA1) service, marking its
return after ceasing operations in 2018. Operated in
collaboration with ONE,
the TA1 service connects
Northern Europe with
the US West Coast, enhancing
operational e昀케ciency. The 昀椀rst
voyage is scheduled for February
and follows a 10-week rotation

HMM has also
announced the India North
Europe Express (INX), a
weekly maritime service
connecting Western India
with Northern Europe.
Operating in collaboration with ONE, the INX
uses 6,000 TEU ships and
o昀昀ers an 11-week rotation.
Designed to boost ex-imports
from India, it also enables global
transhipment opportunities via
Indian ports.

Operator (SFTO) rakes, 16,000
containers, and trailers for
last-mile delivery. The company has achieved 140% rail
freight growth since 2021 and
offers customised services like
Morbi-Kolkata rail freight for
ceramic shipments. DP World is
exploring further investments,
focussing on sustainability and
efficiency.
