We have tailored our warehouses to
meet the specific needs of ecommerce
companies including design that facilitates management of high volume of
orders and multiple SKUs with innovative
racking solutions and mezzanine spaces, separate areas for inward and
outward movement, packaging, kitting and quality control, multiple docks
for higher vehicle movement. We also ensure scalability by proactively
expanding our parks and building ready-to-move-in warehouses in tier
I and II markets where our e-commerce tenants envision their growth.
ADITI KUMAR
Executive Director,
TVS Industrial and Logistics Parks (TVS ILP)
Our logistics parks are designed to
enable rapid growth and customisation
without requiring extensive infrastructure changes, making them ideal for
businesses. A key advantage of our
warehouses is the quick deployment of pre-configured modules,
allowing businesses to swiftly increase storage capacity and improve
order-processing efficiency to meet sudden demand spikes. The
modular design enables adjustments to components like built-in type
of dock, access points for easy movements of forklifts and materials,
temperature-controlled storage spaces and more.
human errors,” says Pooja. “From order picking and
sorting to packaging and shipping, automation ensures
that businesses can meet tight deadlines without sacri昀椀cing accuracy or e昀케ciency.”
Kumar also underscores the role of automation
in maintaining operational efficiency. “Automation
streamlines inventory management, order ful昀椀lment,
and distribution. With the ability to quickly process high
volumes of orders, automation ensures that e-commerce
businesses can meet customer expectations, even during
the busiest times of the year.”
She continues, “Seamless integration between Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and e-commerce
platforms enables real-time updates, boosting data
昀氀ow between online stores, warehouses, and carriers.
Additionally, automated packing stations enhance order
accuracy and processing speed.”

* During the festive period, India’s e-commerce
platforms saw a remarkable growth of over 20%
compared to last year, reaching `1 lakh crore
(~US$11.9 billion) in sales. This surge was largely
driven by strong demand from non-metro regions,
where consumers showed a growing appetite for
luxury and premium brands.
* The quick commerce segment generated between
US$1.1-1.2 billion during the festive period. Much of
this demand came from spontaneous, last-minute
purchases, especially in the season’s 昀椀nal week.
Direct-To-Consumer (D2C) brands also recorded
unprecedented growth, with some experiencing
up to 700% year-on-year increases.
* Redseer Strategy Consultants’ analysis of the 2024
festive season, which spanned from September 15
to October 31, found that India’s e-commerce sector
powered through the festive season, achieved a
Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of approximately
US$14 billion—a 12% rise over last year.
* Unicommerce reported that e-commerce order
volumes grew by 20% during the 昀椀rst four days of
the festive season sale in 2024 (26–29 September)
when compared to the 昀椀rst four days of the festive
season sales 2023 in (7–10 October). During the
same period, GMV also increased by 24% over last
year.
* Fashion-led festive growth registered a 3X surge over
business-as-usual months, driven by ethnic wear
and accessories. Tier II+ cities saw high demand
for unbranded ethnic items, jewellery, and women’s
accessories, while tier I markets favoured premium
and international brands. D2C brands also thrived,
bene昀椀tting from increased digital visibility.
* Smaller cities displayed the highest growth rate
in spends. Availability of discounts enabled tier
II+ customers to a昀昀ord high Average Selling Price
(ASP) products. The quick commerce sector also
extended its o昀昀erings to include electronics and
home appliances, meeting festive demand through
expanded delivery hours. Non-grocery sales spiked,
with Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore being the topperforming cities.
* A new challenge in 2024 that emerged was the
logistical complexity of servicing tier II and III
cities as demand grew. While quick commerce
platforms promise fast delivery, ensuring that
logistical networks can meet this demand in smaller
towns (with less developed infrastructure) has
become an operational barrier.
Tailoring Solutions for HighVolume Demands
Pooja stresses the importance of scalability and 昀氀exibility in the context of e-commerce operations. “As
institutional industrial and logistics developers with an
international pedigree, we have a deep understanding of
the speci昀椀c needs of e-commerce businesses, particularly
when it comes to high-demand periods like festivals,”
