security: drivers can only unlock containers by
entering a One-Time Password (OTP), which
is issued by our operations team. This system
not only enhances security but also provides
our customers with the con昀椀dence that their
cargo is in safe hands.
Staying Ahead of the
Competition: Creating
Unique Offerings and
Pivoting More Quickly
The logistics industry today is a blend of both
progress and tradition. On one hand, there
are logistics companies that have evolved
and reached the highest levels, partnering
with top multinational corporations. On the
other hand, some companies still operate in
a traditional manner, creating a signi昀椀cant
gap between the two.
At Shreeji, we are always in operational
mode. We continually explore new opportunities and take proactive steps to adapt and
innovate. To stay competitive in today’s fastpaced world, it’s essential to evolve across all
aspects—technology, teams, infrastructure, and
昀氀eet. Our approach is grounded in continuous
improvement, and we are always looking for
ways to upgrade and enhance our capabilities.
One of the key di昀昀erentiators at Shreeji
is our cutting-edge technology. Our inhouse developed ERP system, built from
our team’s collective experience, is central to
our operations. It provides detailed reports,
including exception reports, MIS, and various
customer-wise reports reports that help us
plan e昀昀ectively, optimise routes, and enhance
customer interactions. This tool enables us
to stay ahead, ensuring operational e昀케ciency
and seamless customer service.
As we continue to grow geographically and
expand our team, Shreeji remains committed
to upgrading our infrastructure and business
processes. Over the years, our growth has been
steady, and we are poised to continue evolving
to meet the ever-changing demands of the
logistics industry. With all these advancements,
we are ensuring that Shreeji remains at the
forefront of the logistics sector.
Enhance Organisational
Resilience and
Strengthening Teams
during Times of Disruption
A prime example of our commitment during
challenging times is how we handled the
pandemic crisis and continued serving our
FMCG and pharma clients, guaranteeing that
their essential shipments were delivered to
their destinations without delay.
Our drivers played a critical role. They
recognised the importance of transporting
pharma products and essential supplies to
various parts of India, and despite the challenges, they were the 昀椀rst to step forward
and support us.
Similarly, our support staff displayed
immense dedication, coming together in the
most di昀케cult times to ensure smooth operations. Thanks to the collective e昀昀orts of our
team, we were able to deliver food products,
pharmaceuticals, and other essential items
to our clients on time.
This period truly highlighted the trust
and solidarity between our stakeholders,
employees, and drivers. It was their unwavering
commitment and teamwork that enabled us to
navigate the toughest of times and continue
delivering for our clients.
Improving Transport
Ef昀椀ciency: The Need for
Toll Pricing and Border
Checkpoint Reforms
From a government perspective, one key area
that requires attention is the toll pricing,
which continues to increase at an alarming
rate every year. In road transport, tolls are the
second-highest cost after diesel. If we compare
toll rates from 昀椀ve years ago to today’s prices,
we see that toll costs have more than doubled,
or in some cases, even more.
This surge in toll prices significantly
impacts fleet owners, as we don’t receive
compensation from our clients to cover these
costs. While we have a diesel clause in our
contracts that allows us to recover 昀氀uctuations in fuel prices, toll costs remain a major
challenge. The rising toll prices are eroding
our margins and creating 昀椀nancial strain.
To address this, the government should
consider implementing a standardised toll
pricing system across the country. Similar to
the national permit system, which introduced
a one-time fee for pan-India trucking, a uni昀椀ed
toll system could streamline the process. With
such a system, we would pay a single toll for
a truck’s journey, eliminating the need for
multiple toll payments. This would not only
simplify operations but also help reduce the
occurrence of double toll charges caused by
software glitches or connectivity issues, for
which we currently have to raise refund tickets
with our FASTag service provider.
Another area of concern is the ine昀케ciency
at border checkpoints, particularly with the
Regional Transport O昀케ces (RTO). While the
GST o昀케ce is more streamlined, the presence
of RTOs at borders continues to create delays
and hardships for drivers. These checkpoints
slow down operations and add unnecessary
time to the journey. The government should
consider abolishing these RTO checkpoints at
borders to ease the 昀氀ow of tra昀케c and improve
e昀케ciency for transporters.
