Vizhinjam Port welcomes first mother ship,
marking a new era in India’s maritime sector

izhinjam Port in Kerala
celebrated a signiocant
milestone as it received
its first mother ship, 'MV
San Fernando,' marking the
start of operations at India9s
orst deep-water container
transshipment port. The
Union Minister of Ports,
Shipping & Waterways,
Sarbananda Sonowal, hailed this
event as a historic day for India's
maritime sector. The MV San
Fernando, capable of carrying
up to 9,000 TEUs, docked at the
state-of-the-art automated port,
designed for rapid vessel turnaround and handling megamax
containerships.
Sonowal emphasised the
port's importance, stating it
exemplioes the 'Make in India'
vision through a Public-Private
Partnership (PPP) involving the
Government of Kerala, Government of India, and Adani Port
SEZ. He noted that under Prime
Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India's port infrastructure
is being enhanced to support
nation-building, with Vizhinjam
Port set to play a pivotal role in
regional trade. The port's
strategic location near
international shipping routes
signiocantly reduces transit
times for vessels.
As India9s orst Greenoeld
port project, Vizhinjam
represents a substantial
investment of over `18,000
crores. It is poised to boost
Kerala9s economy by creating jobs,
enhancing trade, and attracting
investments. Ongoing infrastructure projects aim to equip
the port with modern facilities,
including container terminals,
warehouses, and logistics parks,
positioning it as a key player in
commerce between Southeast
Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
UP government invests `7,064 crore in
Dadri multi-modal logistics hub
T
he Uttar Pradesh government is set to develop
a multi-modal logistics hub in Greater Noida9s
Dadri, investing `7,064 crore to support its
$1 trillion economy goal. The hub will cover 823
acres, with a core development area spanning
455 acres.
Key developments include commercial and
administrative facilities over 17.5 acres, a rail
yard, and other projects across 350 acres. The
Dadri MMLH aims to become a world-class freight
handling facility, functioning as a dry port to ensure
the swift transit of goods and raw materials. It
will serve as a central hub for container handling,
warehousing, cold storage, processing, de-stuïng,
stuïng, and value-added packing.
Providing seamless rail connectivity, the hub
will feature rail platforms, customs clearance
facilities, cargo segregation areas, truck parking
zones, and extensive green spaces. The project is
being developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, supervised by the Greater Noida
Industrial Development Authority and adhering to
the guidelines of the National Industrial Corridor
Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT).

The new facility will support

Located near JNPT port, the
park offers superior access to
key transportation routes. The
Grade A+ sustainable infrastructure, pre-certioed Gold by IGBC,
ensures eïcient operations and
aligns with UPM9s sustainability
commitments. The additional
space will enable UPM to expand
its warehousing and distribution
capabilities to meet the increasing
demand for its labeling solutions,
with potential for value-added
services.

chain logistics. Developed to meet
global standards, ESR Taloja prioritises sustainability and has received
pre-certiocation from the Indian
Green Building Council (IGBC).

Special Prorate Agreement marks

partnership aimed at expanding their cargo services. The
agreement, finalised at IndiGo’s
headquarters, paves the way for
deeper collaboration between
the two carriers. The partnership
will leverage AFKLMP’s global
reach to provide a broader
range of services and solutions
across various geographies.
Both companies anticipate that
this agreement will improve
global cargo service and create
new opportunities in airfreight
transportation, benefiting their
customers with enhanced connectivity and service offerings.

with IBS Software to
transform air cargo
operations
has selected IBS Softa leading provider of

solutions for the travel and
transport industry, to digitally
transform its expanding air cargo
operations. Air India will utilise
the iCargo solution to support its
growth plans and commitment to
ongoing digital transformation.
The fully integrated iCargo solution will enable Air India to digitise end-to-end cargo management, allowing the integration of
numerous cargo operations—
from sales to billing— within a
single, unified platform. This
partnership marks a significant
step in Air India’s broader digital
transformation initiative, which
spans across passenger services,
fleet, and cargo operations. The
first end-to-end implementation
of iCargo is scheduled for delivery within nine months from the
start of the project.
