We have made signiocant strides, achieving 70 to 80 per cent of our digitisation
goals. However, there remains a critical
20-30 per cent gap that we are dedicated
to closing in the coming years.
Automation is central to our efforts
but faces challenges that require careful
attention. The NLP Marine and related
platforms are vital for streamlining operations. Currently, these platforms encompass
approximately 20 essential processes, and
we are actively identifying and integrating
additional business processes to enhance
user-friendliness. Our objective is to comprehensively meet all stakeholder requirements,
aiming to achieve 100 percent eïciency
and close the remaining gap.
Moving forward, our strategy involves
ongoing enhancement of digital infrastructure
and the integration of advanced technologies
such as Artiocial Intelligence (AI) and data
analytics. These innovations will play a crucial
role in optimising logistics operations and
reinforcing India9s maritime sector as a leader
in technological advancement.

The efforts of the Ministry of
Ports, Shipping and Waterways
(MoPSW) in terms of digitisation

stringent logistics management criteria,
the country aims to bolster its position
in global trade dynamics. Looking ahead,
India remains committed to advancing its
technological capabilities and increasing
infrastructure investments to bolster its
role in international shipping. These eforts
are aimed at cultivating a competitive and
efficient maritime environment, poised
to attract greater global trade nows and
stimulate economic growth.
What measures are being taken by
MoPSW to achieve complete digitisation
and enhance user experience aiming to
match global service?
MoPSW is actively advancing towards
achieving comprehensive digitisation
and enhancing user experience across its
platforms, with the goal of aligning with
global service standards. Our objective is
to deliver services comparable to those
ofered in leading European countries such
as Germany and France. This commitment
drives us to rigorously adopt and implement international best practices. Through
enhanced digitisation and automation, our
aim is to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles
and improve operational efficiency. For
example, stakeholders will benefit from
seamless online transactions and increased
transparency in cargo handling processes,
renecting global standards.
How is the industry promoting
sustainability in its operations and
services by implementing eco-friendly
practices and investing in green
technologies to make ports and shipping
more environmentally friendly?
We are committed to embracing green
initiatives to markedly reduce our carbon
footprint and improve environmental
cleanliness.
Our current emphasis is on green technology and sustainable shipping practices, driven
by the pressing necessity to mitigate the
environmental impact of traditional energy
sources such as petrol and diesel. Cities like
Delhi face severe air pollution, particularly
during winter, underscoring the imperative
of transitioning to cleaner alternatives.
Green shipping initiatives play a pivotal
role in our eforts. We are actively developing
technologies to fuel tugs and vessels using
green energy sources such as ammonia,
Liqueoed Natural Gas (LNG), and hydrogen.
These innovations represent a substantial
stride in reducing emissions and enhancing
air quality in and around our ports and
coastal areas.
Cochin Shipyard, a prominent public
sector undertaking (PSU), is spearheading this initiative by pioneering electric
boats that operate with minimal pollution.
These innovations not only support global
sustainability objectives but also contribute
signiocantly to enhancing the environmental friendliness and sustainability of our
maritime operations.
