Proposed Locations
of MMLPs
* Congestion Reduction:
Increased utilisation of larger
trucks and rail is projected
to decrease the number of
freight vehicles servicing the
top 15 nodes by around 20%.
Relocating warehouses and
wholesale markets from urban
areas to logistics parks will
further reduce congestion and
enhance logistical eïciency.
* Emissions Reduction: Utilising larger trucks and rail for
freight transportation is forecasted to reduce CO£ emissions by approximately 12%
in the top 15 nodes. Larger
vehicles have lower fuel consumption ptpk, resulting in
reduced CO£ emissions. Rail
freight, compared to road
freight, emits about 65%
less CO£ ptpk. Additionally,
there will be reductions in
particulate matter (PM),
carbon monoxide (CO), and
hydrocarbons and nitrogen

oxides (HC+NOx) emissions
due to increased use of larger
vehicles and rail transport.
* Warehouse Cost Savings:
Relocating warehouses to
logistics parks outside urban
centres is expected to decrease
warehousing costs due to
lower rentals and modern
storage facilities. This move
will also lead to reductions in
storage and handling losses.
Summary
Among the 35 modern MMLPs
slated for implementation, Gujarat
leads with ove MMLPs, followed
by Maharashtra with four, Punjab
with three, and Andhra Pradesh,
Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu
each hosting two. Additionally,
one MMLP each has been sanctioned for Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh,
Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana,
West Bengal, and the Union Territories of Delhi and Jammu and
Kashmir. These parks are set to
be developed through seamless
public-private partnerships (PPP),
employing various models of
land ownership involving the
government and private sector
based on specioc requirements.
Joint Ventures (JVs) and Special
Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) will be
structured accordingly, delineating roles clearly between private
and public entities.
MMLPs in Bangalore, Chennai, Bongaigaon, and Nagpur are
currently under implementation,
while the others are in the planning stages.
