Global air freight rates climb
despite seasonal lull
G
lobal air freight rates saw
a broad uptick last week,
according to the latest
data from the TAC Index. The
Baltic Air Freight Index (BAI00)
rose 3.4% week-on-week (WoW)
for the week ending
July 14, reflecting
gains across all
major outbound air
cargo hubs. Despite
the traditional
summer slowdown,
global freight rates
are now just 3.1%
lower year-on-year
(YoY), suggesting
market resilience
even amid rising
concerns over potential US tari昀昀s.
Regional Highlights
China: Shanghai (BAI80): Up
4.1% WoW, now 3.0% lower YoY;
Hong Kong (BAI30): Up 1.8%
WoW, 6.7% lower YoY
India: Rates to both Europe and
the US continued to climb WoW
Vietnam: Rates remained stable
to Europe, but dropped slightly
to the US
Europe: Frankfurt (BAI20): Up
1.5% WoW, down 2.4% YoY;
London (BAI40): Strong 11.4%
WoW gain, up 24.1% YoY, led by
robust Transatlantic demand;
New trade lanes to Australia,
Brazil, Mexico, India, and South
Africa showed YoY gains
United States: Chicago (BAI50):
Up 2.1% WoW, but still 7.3% lower
YoY; Rates rose to Europe, China,
and South America.
Overall, the air cargo market
remains unexpectedly buoyant,
driven by steady demand across
regions and resilient performance
on key lanes, despite it being the
o昀昀-peak season.
Turkish Cargo partners with ACE to boost
global air logistics
urkish Cargo has formed a strategic partnership with US-based Alliance Cargo Express
Inc (ACE) to enhance global connectivity,
digital capabilities, and specialized logistics services,
particularly in pharmaceuticals and e-commerce.
The collaboration enables ACE to tap into
Turkish Cargo’s vast network spanning 120+ global
destinations, o昀昀ering customers increased capacity
and access to emerging markets. A key focus of
the alliance is the development of end-to-end cold
chain solutions, supporting temperature-sensitive
cargo with compliant and e昀케cient logistics.
The partnership also integrates ACE’s digital
platform, allowing users to bene昀椀t from online
quoting, booking, and real-time tracking, catering
to the growing demand for speed, automation, and

shipment visibility.
Additionally, both companies plan to collaborate
on dedicated freighter charters for urgent or highvolume shipments and invest in next-generation
supply chain technologies to enhance operational
e昀케ciency.
Lufthansa partners with IndiGo CarGo on
Transpacific freight route
L
ufthansa Cargo has partnered with IndiGo CarGo
to streamline freight operations on its transpaci昀椀c route from
Ho Chi Minh City to Los Angeles.
Under this new cooperation,
IndiGo CarGo now operates a
dedicated A321 freighter service
from Dhaka via Kolkata to Ho Chi
Minh City, carrying shipments
bound for the U.S., which are then

transferred to Lufthansa Cargo’s
freighter for onward transit to
Los Angeles.
The full route from Dhaka
to Los Angeles is available for
booking through IndiGo CarGo,
while Lufthansa continues to o昀昀er
bookings for the Ho Chi Minh–Los
Angeles leg independently.
Lufthansa Cargo recently
expanded its network with a
new Frankfurt–Beirut service
and opened a European hub in
Rome via a partnership with
ITA Airways.
Oman Air Cargo
partners with
Swissport for new
Amsterdam route

Swissport as its new ground

partner at Amsterdam
Schiphol Airport (AMS),
coinciding with the launch of
its first Muscat-Amsterdam
flight on July 1, 2025. Operating four times weekly with
a Boeing 787-9, the service
carries pharmaceuticals,
engineering spares, and express
cargo, utilising Swissport’s
CEIV-certified 20,000 sqm
facility at Terminal 11. This route
expansion strengthens Oman Air
Cargo’s presence in the European market, with Amsterdam
serving as a key regional hub.
Both Oman Air and Swissport
expressed enthusiasm for the
partnership, aiming to deliver
exceptional cargo services.
The launch was celebrated at
Muscat International Airport and
Amsterdam’s oneworld lounge,
shortly after Oman Air joined the
oneworld alliance in June 2025.

Cargo's ‘BEYOND’
SSaudiaudia
campaign aims to expand
exports globally, supporting Vision 2030. Partnering with
the Saudi Export Development
Authority and Saudi Made,
it leverages Saudia Cargo’s
logistics network to deliver
agricultural goods and dairy
to markets like Manila, Kuala
Lumpur, Addis Ababa, Jakarta,
and Cairo. The initiative supports local SMEs, helping drive
a 14% export growth last year.
Recently, Saudia Cargo added
Zhengzhou, China, to its routes,
continuing to open new export
corridors and strengthen Saudi
Arabia’s international trade
presence under the slogan
“From Saudi to the World, We
Reach Beyond.”
