“There are a lot of exciting things happening”
Amid the turbulences in the transport and logistics sector, Galaxy
Freight is redefining the way it delivers value through innovation,
collaboration, and strategic adaptation. From embracing multimodal
solutions that unite air, ocean, rail, and trucking to expanding its global
footprint into key regions like the Middle East, Europe, and South
America, Galaxy Freight is strategically positioning itself to evolving
client demands. With a strong emphasis on digital transformation,
proactive client communication, and a focus on niche verticals such
as time-critical logistics and dangerous goods handling, Galaxy Freight
is ensuring it remains a trusted partner in a dynamic, competitive
landscape. In a recent conversation, Akbar Sheikh, Associate
Vice President– Sales and Marketing at Galaxy Freight, takes
Upamanyu Borah through the company’s holistic approach to
overcoming industry obstacles, fostering resilience, and building a
customer-centric business.
C
haotic conditions in the T&L sector are creating turbulences
in a logistics market under transformation. In this
challenging environment, what key factors have emerged
as di昀昀erentiators, helping Galaxy rede昀椀ne and reshape its
o昀昀erings in a meaningful way?
I’ll be upfront with you: what goes around, comes around. It’s a simple concept
that re昀氀ects the practices of the past—practices that were once discontinued
due to challenges. People started to view these challenges di昀昀erently.
But here’s the thing: these challenges are actually opportunities for
us. They invite us to unite and work together. When I say ‘invite,’ I mean
that traditionally, air and ocean transport have been viewed as separate
modes. But when we talk about ‘unite,’ we bring these modes together
and create a cohesive solution.
This is how we think outside the box. While multimodal transport already
exists, it’s in these challenges that we truly 昀椀nd the value of combining
di昀昀erent transport options. For instance, rail plays a crucial role in solving
problems and reaching destinations that may seem otherwise inaccessible.
There are always options—whether it’s trucking, rail, air, or ocean. The
key is 昀椀nding the right combination to navigate obstacles e昀昀ectively. When
you have the right team who can integrate these four modes seamlessly,
obstacles turn into solvable challenges.
We’re here to support each other, whether we’re at the front or behind
the scenes, ensuring that the team is happy and the job gets done. That’s
how we operate.
And when I say ‘team,’ I mean more than just our internal group. It
includes our vendors, suppliers, network partners, airline partners, and
liner partners. That’s the big picture.
To adapt to shifting market dynamics and evolutions, it will be more
crucial than ever to continually innovate business and contract
models, and pivot to expand capabilities as needed. How do you see
yourself positioning within this evolving landscape?
There are a lot of exciting things happening. At the core, it’s about collaboration
and taking existing ideas that have already been successful to the next level.

It’s about thinking outside the box, applying these ideas
in new ways, and executing them e昀昀ectively.
Additionally, there are plenty of global opportunities
to explore. By ‘global opportunities,’ I’m referring to
regions like neighbouring countries and cross-border
ventures that present unique possibilities for growth
and expansion.
Of course, there are challenges with neighbouring
borders, but we’ve been navigating these obstacles
for many years, and they can certainly be overcome.
