You will now see EVs or
LNG-powered vehicles, which
have up to 70% lower carbon
emissions. Electric trucks
with capacities ranging from 40 tons to 70 tons
have already been approved by authorities in Pune
and are operational. While the numbers are still
small, and scaling up is taking time, the progress
is undeniable. For local distribution, especially
within Designated Delivery Duty Areas (DDUs), EVs
can be effectively utilised. Many Logistics Service
Providers (LSPs) that we partner with are already
taking steps in the right direction.

Looking forward, he highlights the potential of
hydrogen as a transformative fuel for transportation.
“The hydrogen fuel cell vehicle market, projected to
reach US$347.85 million by 2029, offers immense
promise for medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
Scaling hydrogen adoption will require addressing
infrastructure gaps, enhancing production e昀케ciency,
and prioritising safety. By fostering public-private
partnerships and incentivising innovation, India can
build a sustainable ecosystem for both electric and
hydrogen-powered mobility, setting a global benchmark
for low-carbon transportation solutions.”

environmental concerns which have a huge impact on
air cargo handling through modern cargo terminals,
such as net-zero emissions, reducing our environmental
impacts, and supporting the climate agenda,” Anil adds.
Balajee Bobba, Director of Bobba Group, emphasises the growing adoption of green technologies in
ground handling. “Sustainability is becoming an
increasingly important focus within the air cargo
ground handling sector. We recognise the need to

a zero-waste environment with 100% solar power and
water recycling systems, exempli昀椀es this commitment.
“One of the emerging trends in the industry is the
adoption of green technologies and practices, such as
electric Ground Support Equipment (GSE), energyefficient facilities, and carbon footprint reduction
programmes. We are committed to minimising our
environmental impact by integrating sustainable
practices across our operations,” Balajee adds.
